Teamwork - Task Tracking

I have been delegating tasks through teamwork

His is the whole list of tasks and changes since the beginning.

The list is quite long and hard to follow. It also doesn't include sub-tasks. So I going to show an example task and breakdown of that task.

I picked the Task called: "Environment"

Me and Monika decided that to proceed on the environment from grey-box to texture environment models would to break it down into separate sub task tasks

From: Grey box model  à Goal: modeled and textured environment

Sub-tasks to achieve goal:
  • Produce 3 Separate pieces. Model 3 different modules, Unwrap, textured and in Unity.
  • Placing them in Unity
  • Unique pieces that would not be modular: Like the Floor
  • Then Small Model Pieces Like Sword, Shield and Push Rock
We made a few edits along the way, The unique pieces weren't part of the original plan however we quickly realised that we would need.

We also thought about to texture surfaces such as the floor, for this Monika produced a node bashed vertex shader with three different textures in Maya. We have plans for Joe to reproduce in Unity if time.

We really like the original grey geometric walls we had, but we want to move the pieces closer to soft sweeping lines of the canyon inspiration.

We hope to change some of the elements and add in normal map in the future.

Monika was really helpful and communicative with this task also logging all her time.

-Update-

Normal maps produced for some (not in game). After presentation we hope to remodel these or sculpt them to have back face and improve the quality.

- End Example Task

What I Do:

My method of assigning tasks, I would select what we where going to work on next. For example "Environment" then me and the appropriate team-member would break down what had to be produced and optimal way of doing it.

I would then keep tabs on task online with Teamwork and with face to face communication.
I hope to see each member individual once a day to quickly check in. But not take to much off there time.
We have group meetings each week deciding what to tackle now and what previous goals need re-assessing and problem solving.

What I do well:

Task management is working well, the way we discuss and breakdown goals face to face frequently is great help and we are honest on what we can achieve.
We work together well as team, with a lot of communication and fair discussion.

Future Improvements:

I hope to improve the way I show what I am working on Teamwork wise more, it can be challenge as I am mostly doing reoccurring generic task or doing short tasks.
Specific changes needed for each member as how we work and collaborate together is different.
For example Me and Ed discuss task the most together however this work isn't often shown online as we live together.
Also hope to implement a charter of  'Group Norms' to further push our ability to work as a team.
